How can we help you?

Chrome/Chromium OS setup with NordVPN (L2TP)

Please Note: Although technically you can use the L2TP / PPTP protocols, they have serious security flaws. Whenever possible, we recommend choosing OpenVPN or IKEv2/IPSec instead.

You can set up NordVPN on Chromium Device device using the L2TP/IPSec protocol.

Here is a tutorial how to connect via L2TP/IPSec:

1. Right-click on the clock bar and choose Settings

2. Click on Add Connection and then choose Add Private Network

3. Fill the appeared window with following information:

Server hostname – the server addresses you will find here.
Service name – NordVPN L2TP (you can name it the way you like)
Provider type – L2TP/IPSec + pre-shared key
Pre-shared key – nordvpn
Server CA certificate – Default
User certificate – None installed
Username – your NordVPN account name
Password – your NordVPN account password
OTP – (leave blank)

4. Click on Connect and you will be connected to VPN.

If the connection does not work, first please make sure you are using a regular, standard VPN server, as the special categories do not support L2TP.

If that does not help, try changing the connection proxy settings. Try both "Direct Internet connection" and "Automatic proxy configuration":
